Exclusive interview with Author Crystal Victoria

We caught up with Crystal Victoria to discuss her latest novel The Vicious Cycle: The Key to Unlocking the Revolving Door.  She is not just an author, but a business woman on the move to help change lives, unlocking dreams, and inspiring others.

Tell us about your latest novel The Vicious Cycle: The Key Unlocking the Revolving Door.

My latest novel is a non-fiction self help book called The Vicious Cycle: The Key to Unlocking the Revolving Door. What it basically talks about is a comprehensive guide to individuals who are struggling to overcome life vicious cycles.  It really targets inmates and those re-entering the community.  It talks about how to find a job, housing, and the mindset necessary to truly re-integrate, along with my three steps to success on how to become successful with a criminal background.

What is the message that you want your audience to walk away with after reading your novel?

My latest novel is targeted toward those that have been incarcerated.  I want them to know that there is help and hope.  Just because you made some mistakes does not mean you are one.  There is a way to overcome those obstacles.  We all have obstacles in life and I hope that many people don’t repeat those mistakes.  Which is why even more so why I wanted to write the book which is to tell people how to get out, why they shouldn’t repeat, and things that make people typically repeat offend.  Everyone does not always get out jail with a whole idea of going back to where they came from and repeating mistakes. Typically, people get out of jail with high hopes of doing better and recreating their lives only to get rejected by society.  A lot of life things just happen and it’s difficult for them and for that reason they end of repeating the same.

 Who inspires you to write?

My grandmother instilled in me the love to read and my mother love to write.  She writes poetry and things of that nature.  I think growing up a lot of my writing skills and my desire to write came from her.  I use to recall her writing a lot of speeches and things for church and other venues.  I was always in plays and theatrical arts and always memorizing lines and things of that nature.  From a young age as a kid, without being able to read as a baby my mother always read to me at night.  My grandmother always read my books in a night.

What is Target Evolution?  What is the purpose and vision when you launched Target Evolution?

Target Evolution is changing and focusing on change through entrepreneur education.  I have theory that people can be inspired by their purpose and passion.  In addition to that, your purpose and passion can be turned into a valuable business model.  What I seek to do with Target Evolution is help people for one, identify their innate gifts and their passions, turn them into a business model in which they can serve society, and become social entrepreneurs.  Your background does not matter.  Target Evolution is all about a transformation in an individual’s life.   It’s about targeting that evolution that change that will come within as you grow older.  Sometimes it has nothing to do with background or overcoming mistakes.   Sometimes it’s people transitioning or evolving from Corporate America to Self-Employment.

But just targeting all evolution.   The only thing that is constant is change.  If we can focus on change then we always have an opportunity to guide where things change to. In addition, to have control.  We can control the change if we focus on it, stop worrying, and trying to keep things the same.  We know things are going to change.  Target Evolution embodies that and embraces that.  It perpetuate that and it perpetuate an organization that is filled with helping people change their lives. We don’t’ care what you’re changing to, we just want to help you change if you want to.  That is what the Target Evolution is about.

If you could go back through time and talk with a younger you, what would you say and why?

If I could go back in time and talk to a younger version of myself.  First, I would tell myself to embrace me, to accept me, and to be okay with me.  Then I would tell myself to find out who that is and to accept it.  I think to often, we as a kids and looking at myself and so many others  that we want our kids to be doctors, lawyers, and something great.  What if your paths don’t lead there?  What if you don’t want to do those things? How about the kids that want to be phenomenal dancers, or phenomenal artists, or phenomenal business owners, or just want to provide a technology service.  I think I would have told myself to embrace everything, all opportunities, and to look into it, and find what I like to do.
