We had the pleasure to speak with Tina Hobson about her new novel, Oh How He Loves Me. It’s her testimony of how great God has been to her and she shares her story of reflections through her journey, struggles, and trials. Tina hopes to inspire and empower men and women with her story to not give up and that God still loves you.
Tell us about Oh, How He Loves Me?
Oh girl, let me tell you that this book is near and dear to my heart because it’s about me. It’s about my life struggles, my journey through drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and everything that came along with it. It’s actually biblical based each reflection starts with a bible verse. The body of the reflections talks about my struggles by talks about when my addiction started up to my deliverance in November 1989. So, Oh How He Loves Me is reflections of God’s love for me and you. It tells you about how no matter how far down you go and how low a person can go, God is still there to lift you up and bring you back to where he wants you to be.
What inspired you to write this particular novel?
What actually happened, I was on a panel on Google hangout several years ago. In this hangout with the late Collette Stevenson the facilitator and we were talking about the 7 habits of the Christian woman. My part was to talk about overcoming which was right up my alley. While doing the hang out, I gave my testimony and one of the other panelist told me I need to write a book and write my testimony. She said, “ I need to get busy with pen and paper.” I said no, nobody wants to really hear this and she kept encouraging me. I played around with it and played around with it until one day publisher Charlotte Howard contacted me about an anthology she was doing called Success in Beauty: The Secrets of Effortless Fulfillment and Happiness. She wanted me to do a chapter in her book and I was like, are you sure you know who you’re talking to? Charlotte said, yes I know exactly who I am talking to. I committed to writing a chapter and I submitted the chapter to her and it was accepted to be a part of the anthology. From there I thought okay maybe I can really do this. God gave me the title and he gave me what I needed to write. It became an international best-seller on Amazon. I am grateful, proud, and humble.
What is the message that you want your audience to take away after reading, Oh How He Loves Me?
Letrise, I just want them to know that no matter how far down the scale they have gone, no matter what they have done, or said they have been forgiven. There is always hope and God loves them unconditionally. If he can do what he did and is doing for me today, why wouldn’t he do it for them? We have all made mistakes and we have all fallen short. If we still got breathe in our bodies then he still got something for us to do. You know my God loves to get the glory. If he can bring you out of what he brought me out of then he can do it for them. The bottom line is never give up hope.
What’s next for Tina Hobson?
I am actually in the middle of a book signing tour. Which I am very proud of here in Cleveland. I actually have 3 locations that I will be doing book signing in the month of July. The response that my books has gotten from family and friends has been amazing. It’s been heartfelt and people say that family can be your worst critic, but in my case they have been supportive. They are not looking for me to give them the book instead coming to me with money to buy the book. That is awesome! In September 18th-20th, I have been asked to speak at Beaut Lifestyle Health & Wealth Mastery Retreat for Women in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am so thrilled and I will be on a full 3 day retreat speaking about my book and giving a presentation on empowerment. My motto, it’s never too late to be great. That came from me watching how God is working in my life. The first anthology was released when I was 61 years old and Oh How He Loves Me was released on my 62nd birthday in March.
