Interview with Linda Wattely talks about PSTD that inspired her new novel

I had the pleasure to speak with Linda Wattely about her novel Soldier with a Backpack-Living and Dying Simultaneously.  It’s a story inspired by her own personal journey as well as her son’s personal life journey as he lives with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  This is a very serious disorder that one cannot overlook or be avoided.

What inspired and prompted Mrs. Wattley to write the novel was a reality check with her son that caused her to do in depth research so that she can understand the disorder and be able to help her son.  She was able to recognize and identify the symptoms of PTSD thru her own personal experience that helped her to understand how someone suffering from such disorder can have a productive life after this type of experience.

When one thinks of PTSD, you always think about a combat solider coming home from Iraq or some other war over seas.  However, Linda would like her readers to walk away with an understanding that, Post-Traumatic Stress (known as PTSD) does not affect just soldiers.  This can happen to anyone and it’s not gender specific.  A person living with PTSD can live a productive life and it’s imperative that family members and friends learn how to care for those with this type of disorder.  Linda said, “they deserved to be loved and not have to live in fear; sudden death is on the rise.”  Many soldiers come home to discover a war zone in our their own backyard.  It’s with a lack of love and bonding that induces PTSD.  What Linda’s book will offer is re-establishing our inner base to be more of what God has made us to be than what the world is making us to be.  Basically meaning, love is being sacrificed for survival.

Linda’s quote, “Soldier with a Backpack Living and Dying Simultaneously” takes us in and brings us back out equipped to be love and free from fear.

Summary from Soldier With A Backpack Living And Dying Simultaneously:

SOLDIER WITH A BACKPACK – Living and Dying Simultaneously
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the hidden love killer, is instrumental in creating a world of alienation in the human experience. “Soldier with a Backpack, Living and Dying Simultaneously” is written to form a silent unity of hope and understanding for individuals experiencing or knowing someone with PTSD and to reveal a needed truth about it.

Linda Wattely is one of those authors who is always inspired to write spiritually as she does not plan her writing.  For the remainder of the year, she plans go into “Boots on Ground” is what she is calling it as she ventures out to speak about spiritual transformation, book signings, develop workshops, and visiting people who desire and need to understand life after Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
