Get to know me – Aja

I can and have been given many titles. I’m a wife, a mom, a daughter … I’m a friend. A lover. A warrior. I love all of them but nothing could define me more than being a writer. Writing is by far the most all-inclusive title given to me. I get to share my love for all I am and all I aspire to be, just by writing authentically and honestly the story that both me and my characters want to tell.

When I’m not writing, I’m preparing to write, or preparing my family for their days or spending my time with them. I love family time especially quiet family time where we are all in our own worlds co-existing but not needing the attention of each other though it’s a rare thing because my children are young. I love great movies, usually action-filled with plenty of shooting and acrobatic moves but with bursts of love throughout and I absolutely love military/war films that express devotion to something other than self.

I enjoy binge watching crime dramas or documentaries that should make me lose sleep but only make me more paranoid about the terrors of the world. The First 48 has made everyone a likely suspect when I leave my house. I love to read books that are not like my own but still convey true depth of emotion and passion and triumph, and I love long naps though they escape me. When I do get one, I covet it and cherish it before my name is called out and I’m back in the game, being all those titles I mentioned earlier.

I’m a lover of life and most of all, a lover of love and I live and breathe it every chance I get because I know that it’s a gift and gifts are best treasured, opened slowly, and cared for each and every day.
