In Her Stolen Pride I and Her Stolen Pride II, she talks about her mother’s stolen identity, stolen accomplishments, her experiences, and her pride. While in Pride Restored, it talks about her mother’s journey after the world learns the truth.
Are you asking yourself the question, who is Mamie King Chalmers? She is the young black activist seen in many of the famous pictures taken by photographer Charles Moore during the Civil Rights Movements. He sold the pictures to Time Magazine that have been featured in documentaries, magazines, newspapers, showed during black history month, featured in special documentaries about the Civil Rights Movement. Most importanly, Frank Donnelly a Detroit news reporter would tell Mamie King Chalmers’s story 50 years to the exact date of the picture featured below of the young black woman and two boys being hosed in Birmingham, Alabama. The world would learn who she is thanks to the powerful and dtermined efforts of her daughter Lasuria Allman determined to claim her mother’s identity, rights, and pride.

Great interview. I never get over the shock of hearing the story of how Mrs. King-Chalmers’ place in history was taken. Just boggles the mind.
I am also truly honored to have been able to be the first to spotlight her in an American history book. Beads on a String-America’s Racially Intertwined Biographical History http://wade-inpublishing.blogspot.com
Thank you Ey Wade! I truly enjoyed the interview myself and yes a true honor.
