Get to Know me- Jeanee Patton

I am a phenomenal woman born in Alexandria, LA on October 17th.   I am a 70’s baby with a love for timeless music and amazing food.  It’s no wonder I hail from the great state of Louisiana.  Home to Mardi Gras, Cajun & Creole cuisine, all that Jazz and so much more!  I am so many things; mostly I am fearfully and wonderfully made.   I am Jeanee Raquel Patton.

It was early in my childhood that I recognized my love for creating masterpieces in the kitchen.  I observed my grandmothers work their magic creating Soul Food Sundays and holiday dinners that brought us all together in love.  I knew then there was magic or rather unconditional love being served up on those platters.  It was just the beginning of my culinary side being revealed.  A side that would not come full circle until being an adult.

I attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  I am a #jaguar4life.  It was at Southern University where I met my now husband, Darwin.  We have been married for 17 years and have a beautiful daughter, Kennedy (14) and a handsome son, Anthony (8).

It was after relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2005 that I started laying the foundation for Kennedy’s Sweet Tooth.  It would be another 3 years before the doors would open, but the test kitchen was officially open for business.  After many late nights and early mornings of testing and tweaking my recipes, the recipes for Kennedy’s Sweet Tooth were completed.  I was ready to share my love for baking with the world.

Over the years, Kennedy’s Sweet Tooth has allowed me to meet many incredible people whom I now deem family.  I have catered events for celebrities and participated in America’s Best Bakers (Atlanta, GA Edition) Cupcake Warz.  My gift is making room for me and the best is yet to come.

I recently reconnected with my love for writing and enjoy writing for Sistah’s Place online magazine.  I relate to my readers who reach out to me to let me know how an article touched them or they related to what I wrote.  If I can shed light, peace, hope and love in this dismal world, then my living is not in vain.  That’s when you know you are living your best life.
