As I continue to get older, it becomes more apparent of which things in life truly bring joy to my heart. For me, it’s the experiences and relationships that bring meaning and a sense of purpose to life. We’ve all experienced a plethora of different types of relationships throughout life, whether it be relationships of love, friendship, academic, or occupational; they each serve different purposes.
There is one relationship that I would move mountains to maintain: the relationship I have with my sister, Syreeta. No, she is not a mother to me nor a mother in her own right, however she acts as such toward my own children. She cares for them as a mother would, teaches them things I may fail to and loves them unconditionally. It is such a blessing to be able to trust someone whole-heartedly with the greatest gifts given to me as much as I trust her. She is a great sister and an even better Auntie.
