Review: New Pilot on NBC The Village

Did you watch the The Village on NBC last night?  It’s a new drama pilot written by Mike Daniels who is executive producer of the show with Jessica Rhoades and directed by Minkie Spiro.  You might remember Mike Daniels from his hit Shades of Blue (2016) with Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta that he co-executive produced and written.  What is the new pilot about?  It’s an apartment in Brooklyn where the residents who live in the building are more than just neighbors but they have a bond that is strong of that as a family.  They support each other, laugh, and help one another like family would do. Does this sound familiar to any of our seasoned adults who grew up in neighborhoods, apartment buildings, and duplexes back in the good old days?

Well, I loved the show because it reminded me of the good old days when your neighbors were more than just neighbors.  We were family.  Everyone knew each other and if you needed help, a smile, or just to talk someone was always there.  Just like the Ron and Patricia in The Village who remind me so much of Mrs. McFarland and her husband in the duplex I lived as a child with my parents and siblings.  The characters are authentic and relatable which is something that drew me in to the story.

Many of the cast members, I have seen on other shows so we are all in for a treat.  There are a few new faces that I have not seen but looking forward to see their characters perform and steal away at our hearts.  The cast includes Moran Atias, Dominic Chianese, Warren Christie, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Daren Kagasoff, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint, and Grace Van Dien.    Well, the show looks very promising and I am curious to find out about Patricia’s secrete along with the unfolding storylines for Sara, Ron, and Ava.
