Who is author G.M.J.?

I would like to go by my author name of G.M.J. But you may call me GM Jakelic (as my Facebook name). I am from Croatia. Aurora . . . and God is my first book self-published in English. .

What was it that made you decide to write a book?

I was always inspired to write since I was very young. For this particular book, I was inspired to write at the age of 17 because of events that’s happened in my life. I first wrote it in Croatian, my native language, but I revised it again when I was 24 and only translated it to English two years ago. That was when I seriously considered publishing my book.

What inspired your book title: Aurora and God?

The book is a mixture of both fiction and non-fiction. I say this because I wrote this book to inspire people and spread the beauty of having faith and trust in God.

Without giving too much away, tell us what your story is about?

A young troublesome addict, Aurora, and a priest on a mission, Sebastian, form a beautiful friendship. Slowly their friendship takes a turn when Sebastian starts to slowly distance himself from Aurora, hiding his true reasons.

This book delves into the depths of one family’s struggles to reveal the core of human existence and the basis for all human life, the love of God. We long for it, even if we do not admit it, even though it is all around us. We run from it, even though we want it. We push it away, even though it is life sustaining. No matter how hard we deny it, push it away, or run from it, it is always there. Because God is always there. Simply waiting for us to accept it.

This book is a gripping story of a family, most outstanding in the family is Aurora. Aurora does everything possible to run from God’s love, until she meets a messenger from God. Even then, Aurora struggles with accepting the fullness of God’s love, which is the only true path to happiness. Once she finally accepts His love is the way to bring happiness to herself and her family, God shows her the true meaning of “God works in Mysterious ways”.

Is there a message you like readers to take away after reading Aurora and God?

I would like people realize to overcome their fears and if there is away, they can open them selves to open up to new propositions and ideas to open up ideas along their way

I want to help people with this book and make people be aware of the realities that other people face so that they may have a heart for them. Through my story, I also wanted to tell people how God always hears us in our most difficult times, in the most unexpected way.

What makes your book stand out from all the rest in your genre?

I think my book stands out from other genres because there is a mixture of romance, religion, self-help themes which are imbued into the realities and lives of people who are facing difficulty.

What’s next for you as an author? Will there be more books?

I have one book published long time ago (in Croatian) and I am currently working on a screen play.

Who are some of your favorite authors and why?

Some of my favorite authors include

  • Sophocles – I love his style of writing and the themes that he writes is specific and very attractive to me.
  • Tomislav Ivancic – He is a Croatian priest who wrote many books on inner healing
  • M. Scott Peck – The book that inspired me the most (and is also one of my favorite books is The Road Less Travelled. I liked its great advice on life.
  • Last, I was also inspired by Fairytales from Hans Christian Anderson, as it lights up my world and I’m sure others too.
